General Information

The Site

Bramhope Scout Campsite has thirteen and a half acres of ground surrounded by trees of many descriptions, with sites suitable for District, Troop and Patrol camping. Wood fires are encouraged with wood supplied from the site's wood pile. Mains water is supplied by taps placed throughout the fields. On the site is a substantial covered brick toilet block with separate male and female entrances, leading to separate rooms with toilets, wash basins (with hot & cold water), plus a shower cubicle.

The complex also provides accommodation in the Ashton Centre, the John Briggs Centre, plus The Lodge. For day classroom, indoor activity, or field study use The Annexe may also hired.

For a small fee you can hire the Barbecue Griddlery to cook up a feast in the covered shelter on charcoal grills. There is a campfire circle and campsite chapel for religious and social activities.

The site is available to members of The Scout Association and Guiding UK and, subject to the approval of the Management Committee, to Schools and other properly consituted organizations. The campsite and facilities are not available to the general public.

Availability

The whole Campsite is open every weekend from 6pm, on Fridays to 4.30pm, on Sundays, and during the week when bookings have been made. The Duty Warden will generally be available when the Site is open. Visits to view the facilities are welcome when the Site is open or by arrangement with the Booking Secretary, who will be pleased to provide further information. Please note - the earliest arrival time on a Friday for a weekend booking is 6pm unless special arrangements have been requested and confirmed.

Bookings

Provisional bookings can be made with the Booking Secretary, but must be confirmed with a booking form and the relevant deposit(s) within two weeks of the provisional booking being made, otherwise the provisional booking will be cancelled. All deposits paid are not refundable. The full fees for buildings and whole site bookings must be paid if your group cancels their booking within two months of the date booked.

All Cheques to be made payable to "Bramhope Scout Camp Site". Bookings are accepted from Scout and Guide Patrols subject in the latter case to there being a Leader present.

Where specific camping areas are requested, these will be allocated whenever possible.

Access

The Site is situated at Old Bramhope, entrance in Occupation Lane, approximately ¾ mile west of Bramhope Village, which is 8 miles NNW from the centre of Leeds. There is easy access by road to the Site, which has adequate parking facilities. To avoid complaints from local residents, users bringing coaches should avoid the narrow roads through Bramhope Village and approach from the A658.

Public transport is available from Leeds Bus Station and Otley Bus Station to Bramhope Church (Services X84) also Leeds City Station and Otley Bus Station to Hilton Grange (Service 757). The nearest main railway station is at Leeds, and the nearest local station is Horsforth 3 miles from the site, on the Leeds to Harrogate Line.

Services

Water - This is a mains supply with Water from taps located throughout the Campsite, this is for drinking and cooking only. Personal toilet requirements are to be met in the Toilet Block with hot water and showers. A large chest freezer and a fridge are available for use by all campers.

Lighting is provided around the buildings, on the car parks, and in the toilet block.

Shopping

A limited range of shops is available in Bramhope and a full range in Otley and Yeadon. There are supermarkets in Otley, Holt Park and Yeadon.

Campsite Shop

On Site there is shop selling a wide range of souvenirs, gifts, soft drinks and sweets. All shop revenues are used to maintain, improve the Site, and subsidise fees. Site users may not therefore set up their own tuck shop.

Marquee Hire

If notice is given Marquee hire can be arranged including erection and striking.
