Opportunities and Facilities

There are suitable routes for hikes of all levels. Places of interest include Chevin Forest Park. There are opportunities for rock climbing at Caley Crags, Otley for boating on the River, Leeds and Bradford Airport, National Armouries museum at Leeds, and further afield Ilkley Moor and the Dales. Scouts using the Air Hockey Table.

There are Sport Centres with indoor pools at Aireborough and Holt Park (about 3 Miles away) and an open air swimming pool at Ilkley.

Sailing, Canoeing and Boating is available on Yeadon Tarn one mile from the Site, by prior arrangement.

Gladiators battle it out on the giant air cushion

Gladiators a giant air cushion with pedestals. Knock your opponent off with supplied padded 'biffers'. Make a booking on the Activity Booking Form.

Bouncy Castle a traditional inflatable Bouncy Castle for youngsters up to 10 years old. Make a booking on the Activity Booking Form.

A Climbing Tower, one wall with climbing holds and one wall free for abseiling is available on the Campsite. Anyone wishing to use this wall should book with the Booking Secretary on the Activity Booking Form. Please note that only members of the Scout Association can use the Climbing Tower.

The Barbecue Griddlery is available for all users, it is equipped with a large charcoal fired barbecue griddle and has seating for 32 people, the building should be booked on the activity booking sheet and is available on an hourly basis.

Archery

Archery is usually available if booked at least four weeks in advance with the Booking Secretary - under the control of the instructors authorised by North Leeds District - held only in the area designated by the Management Committee - using only the equipment provided by the Management Committee. An hourly charge per group is made for the use of all Site equipment and includes instructors (maximum number in a group is 10 persons). Other warranted leaders may instruct archery, using only the equipment provided by the Management Committee, provided that they present to the Duty Warden their community Sports Leader Award Certificate and the Grand National Archery Instructors Certificate along with written permission from their own District Commissioner to instruct Archery.

Air Rifle shooting

Rifle Range using air rifles is usually available to young persons above the age of 10 (Scout & Guide sections and above). Parents permission forms are required for all young persons taking part in the activity below the age of 18. Please use the booking form included with the brochure and photocopy as required. Please book air rifle shooting on the "Activity Booking Form".

Pedal Karts

Pedal Go-Karts are available on the Campsite for campers to hire and set up their own track or obstacle course with the road cones provided. Anyone wishing to use the Karts should book with the Booking Secretary on the Activity Booking Form

Giant push ball

Push Ball is available. This is a giant inflatable 2 metre diameter ball which can be used for games in the fields, this is hired out on an hourly basis. Anyone wishing to use the ball should book with the Booking Secretary on the Activity Booking Form

Play Parachute with a games handbook is a available on the Camp Site, this is popular with younger age groups. Please book the parachute on the "Activity Booking Form".

Basket ball and Football posts & balls are available with a variety of other games equipment, which can be borrowed with a small returnable deposit.

Camp Fire Circle and Camp Chapel are available on the Campsite to share with other users.

Pioneering is a great Scouting tradition and poles are available on the Campsite but users will need to bring their own ropes and sacking. All aerial runways must be used as current regulations

Obstacle Course

Obstacle Course is available for use by all and is suitable for children over eight years old, but must be supervised by Leaders over 18 years of age. Guidelines are available from the Duty Warden. Please book on the "Activity Booking Form".

Orienteering Course is laid out on the Campsite, this is a clockface course, to use the course you will require your own compasses.

Treasure Hunt & Scavenger Hunt are both available on Site, details about each are available from the Duty Warden

Bird Box and/or Bird Table construction from kits is available, anyone wishing to take part in this activity should book with the Booking Secretary on the Activity Booking Form.

Giant's Jenga

Giant's Games Pack Jenga, Dominoes, Darts and Pick-up-Sticks are available in the "Giant's Games Pack". This may booked with the Booking Secretary on the Activity Booking Form.

Good Deed - The Campsite would greatly appreciate if groups could offer to help with a small task during their stay, these are simple jobs like helping to clear the stream or picking up litter or firewood.

Service Team - As the Site is maintained entirely by voluntary help, a Site Service Team is active on Site and anyone wishing to join the Service Team should contact the Operations Manager for further details, Scouts wishing to take the Campsite Service or D.I.Y. Badge can also be accommodated.
